Not every TV can be controlled from a phone, and we'd rather tell you up front. Simple TV Remote works with smart TVs that run Google TV and Android TV, LG webOS, Samsung Tizen (2016 and later), Vizio SmartCast, Panasonic My Home Screen and Roku TV. Find your TV below, or run the free check in the app to be sure.

Questions

Which TVs does Simple TV Remote work with?

Smart TVs that run Google TV, LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, Vizio SmartCast, Panasonic My Home Screen and Roku TV, from brands including Bush, Element, Google, Hisense, Hitachi, Insignia, JVC and LG.

Will Simple TV Remote work with my TV?

It will if your TV runs Google TV and Android TV, LG webOS, Samsung Tizen (2016 and later), Vizio SmartCast, Panasonic My Home Screen and Roku TV. Look up your brand and model on this page. The free check in the app connects to your TV and sends a real command, so you know for sure before you pay.

What TVs does it work with?

Smart TVs on six systems: Google TV and Android TV (Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips and others), LG webOS, Samsung Tizen from 2016, Vizio SmartCast, Panasonic My Home Screen, and Roku TV (TCL, Hisense, Sharp and others). The brand on the front matters less than the system the TV runs.

How do I know which system my TV runs?

Look at the home screen and the logo that shows when the TV starts. A Google TV, Roku or webOS home screen tells you right away. Your model number, on the label on the back of the TV, also tells you, and our brand pages explain how to read it.

My TV isn't on the list. What now?

Then it isn't on our list yet, and we'd rather you didn't pay for something that won't work. Run the free check in the app anyway, since it tells you for sure. Your TV maker's own app or the TV's buttons are good stand-ins in the meantime.

Does it work with an old TV that isn't a smart TV?

No. An iPhone has no infrared blaster, so it can only talk to TVs that connect to your Wi-Fi. For an older TV, a plastic universal remote is the better choice.

My TV has AirPlay or Chromecast. Does that mean it will work?

Not by itself. AirPlay and Chromecast are for sending videos and photos to the TV. Whether a remote app can work depends on the TV's system, which is why the free check really connects and sends a command.

Does every button work on every TV?

The basics, such as arrows, OK, Back, Home and volume, work on every compatible TV. Typing, switching inputs and turning the TV on depend on the TV, and the app shows what your TV can do before you pay.

Do I need the TV maker's account or app?

No. Simple TV Remote connects straight to your TV over your home Wi-Fi. You accept a code or prompt on the TV once, and that's it.

Why does the platform matter more than the brand?

Each platform has its own way to be controlled over Wi-Fi. The same brand can sell TVs on different platforms, and the same model name can differ by country.

What does the free check test?

The app pairs with your TV and sends real commands. You confirm the selection moved and the volume changed, then see what works on your TV before you pay.

My model isn’t listed. Will it work?

Maybe. We list the main US and UK lines, not every regional variant. The free check in the app will tell you for sure.
