Yes. Simple TV Remote works with Sony TVs that run Google TV. The platform depends on the model and the country, so check your exact model number. The free check in the app confirms it on your TV before you pay $5.99, once.
How do I turn on my Sony TV without the remote?
Press the power button on the TV. Sony's printed Reference Guide or Setup Guide shows where it is on your BRAVIA. On models with only one button, pressing it opens a small menu.
Can my iPhone turn on my Sony TV?
Yes, from standby, once Remote start is on. Press Quick Settings, open Settings > Network & Internet > Remote start (Network and Internet in the UK), and choose On (Powered on by apps) where offered. It can't turn on a TV that's unplugged.
How do I pair a Sony remote with my TV?
Only Bluetooth remotes, the ones with a MIC or Google Assistant button, need pairing. Open Quick Settings > Settings > Remotes & Accessories > Remote control > Connect via Bluetooth > Connect a new remote, then follow the steps on screen. If your remote can't open the menu, Sony says another Sony TV's remote (or a phone remote) can get you there.
How do I reset a Sony TV remote?
Take the batteries out, press the remote's power button for three seconds, then put new batteries in. Sony says this can fix problems caused by poor battery contact or static electricity.
Why is my Sony TV remote not working?

How do I restart a Sony TV without the remote?
Unplug the TV, press the power button on the TV once, wait 2 minutes, and plug it back in. With a working remote you can instead hold its power button for about 5 seconds until the TV restarts. Your settings aren't lost either way.
Which Sony TVs work with Simple TV Remote?
Sony BRAVIA TVs with Google TV, from 2021 on, and BRAVIA TVs with Android TV, from 2015 to 2020. That includes the BRAVIA 3, 7, 8 and 9 ranges. A few entry-level Sony TVs, such as the US X690E, use simpler software and aren't on our list yet.

Do I need Wi-Fi to use my iPhone as a Sony remote?
Yes. Your iPhone and the BRAVIA must be on the same home network, not a guest network. If the TV has never been connected, a phone app can't help, so finish network setup with the TV's remote first.

Is my Sony TV Android TV or Google TV?
Models from 2021 onward run Google TV. Models from 2015 to 2020 run Android TV, except some entry-level sets. If the home screen shows Google Play, it's Android TV or Google TV.
About Sony smart TVs
Sony was one of the first TV makers to use Android TV, starting with its 2015 BRAVIA range. In 2021 it moved to Google TV, which is built on Android TV. Sony's own model list marks every BRAVIA series from 2015 to 2020 as Android TV and every series from 2021 as Google TV.
Some entry-level and small Sony TVs from those years don't run Android TV. Examples include the US X690E and the European XG70 series, which are not in Sony's Android TV help guides.
Sony renamed its range in 2024. Instead of codes like XR-65A95K, the 2024 models are BRAVIA 3, 7, 8 and 9 with codes like K-65XR80. Newer versions add II to the name and M2 to the code, such as BRAVIA 8 II (K-65XR80M2).
On Sony TVs, the setting that lets a phone wake the TV is called Remote start. It is in Settings > Network & Internet on most models (Network and Internet in the UK and Europe).
