Troubleshooting

Most problems come from the network or one TV setting. Start at the top.

The TV never shows the Allow prompt
  1. Check that your iPhone and the TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
  2. Open Device Connect Manager and make sure Access Notification is not turned off. 2021: Settings > General > External Device Manager. 2022–2024: Settings > All Settings > Connection > External Device Manager. 2025 and later: Settings > All Settings > Connections.
  3. If your iPhone is in the Device List as Denied, set it to Allow or delete it, then connect again.
The app can't turn the TV on
  1. Turn on Power On with Mobile in the network Expert Settings (see the setup steps for your year).
  2. Turn the TV off with the remote, not at the wall. A TV that was unplugged can't be woken over the network.
  3. If it still doesn't wake, turn the TV on with the remote. The rest of the controls will still work once it's on.
The TV never shows the Allow prompt
  1. Check that your iPhone and the TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
  2. Open Device Connect Manager on the TV and check that Access Notification is not turned off. The path depends on the year: Settings > General > External Device Manager (2021), Settings > All Settings > Connection > External Device Manager (2022–2024), or Settings > All Settings > Connections (2025 and later).
  3. Look in the Device List. If your iPhone is listed as Denied, change it to Allow or delete it, then connect again.
The app can't turn the TV on
  1. Turn on Power On with Mobile in the network Expert Settings. 2017–2021: Settings > General > Network > Expert Settings. 2022 and later: Settings > All Settings > Connection (or Connections) > Network > Expert Settings.
  2. Turn the TV off with the remote, not at the wall. A TV that has been unplugged or switched off at the wall can't be woken over the network.
  3. Keep the TV on the same network as your iPhone. Some routers stop passing wake-up traffic to devices in standby after a while.
The TV turns itself on
  1. Samsung's support pages say network devices can turn the TV on when Power On with Mobile is on. If you don't need to wake the TV from your phone, turn Power On with Mobile off.

How to use your iPhone as a Samsung Frame TV remote

  1. Join the same Wi-FiConnect your iPhone and the TV to the same home Wi-Fi network. Guest networks often keep devices apart.

Why does The Frame show art instead of turning off?

Because a short press of power switches The Frame to Art Mode, not off. Samsung's 2022 e-Manual says a short press while you watch TV goes to Art Mode, and pressing and holding power turns the TV off completely. Turning it off from a phone app may also land in Art Mode.

How do I turn on a Samsung Frame TV without the remote?

Press the Controller button on the TV. On many Samsung models it's under the bottom center or bottom right of the screen, but the spot and shape vary by model. Once the TV is on, press it once for a small menu with power, volume, channel and source.

Plug a USB-C cable into the port on the bottom of the remote. The light on the front stays on while it charges and goes off when it's full. Between uses, leave the solar panel on the back facing the light. Samsung doesn't include the cable.

On a SolarCell remote (2021 and later TVs), hold Return and Enter, the center of the navigation pad, for 10 seconds. On a battery remote, take the batteries out and hold Power for 8 seconds. Then pair it again with Return and Play/Pause.

How do I restart a Samsung Frame TV?

Unplug the TV from the wall, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. That full restart clears most freezes and remote problems. Afterward, give it a moment before you use your iPhone, since the TV has to rejoin Wi-Fi.

Does Art Mode count as off?

In Art Mode the TV is on and showing art. Samsung's 2022 e-Manual says a short press of the remote's power button while watching TV switches to Art Mode, and pressing and holding it turns the TV off completely. A phone app that sends power off may only switch the TV to Art Mode.

How do I tell which year my Frame is?

Read the letter after LS03: N 2018, R 2019, T 2020, A 2021, B 2022, C 2023, D 2024, F 2025. The 2017 model is LS003.

Can my iPhone turn the TV on?

About these TVs

The Frame is Samsung's lifestyle TV that shows art when you're not watching. It launched in 2017 as the LS003 and has been sold as the LS03 series every year since.

The year letter follows LS03: N 2018, R 2019, T 2020, A 2021, B 2022, C 2023, D 2024, F 2025. US codes started with UN in 2017–2018 (UN55LS03N) and QN from 2019 (QN55LS03R). UK codes start with UE or QE and add a suffix, for example QE55LS03TAUXXU.

The Frame runs the same Tizen software as Samsung's QLED TVs from the same year. Art Mode and standby are separate states, so the TV may show art instead of turning fully off.
