VIDAA is the smart TV system on most Hisense TVs outside North America, including almost every UK Hisense TV. VIDAA, the company, was founded in March 2019 by the Hisense Group and other investors. Its website now says VIDAA is becoming V.

Set up

Pairing takes about a minute, once per TV. Each model line’s page has the exact TV menus.

  1. Accept Disclaimer and Privacy on the TV

    Settings › Support › Disclaimer and Privacy

    Agree to the end user license and privacy terms. VIDAA says phone apps can't connect until you do.

  2. Turn on Fast Power On (2025 sets)

    2025 models
    Settings › System › Advanced Settings › Fast Power On

    Set it to On. Hisense's manual describes it as fast start-up.

  3. Turn on Fast Power On (other years)

    If your TV has a Fast Power On setting, set it to On. We haven't confirmed where it is on sets from other years; the e-manual on your TV lists it.

  4. Turn off Auto Standby with No Signal (2025 sets)

    2025 models
    Settings › System › Timer Settings › Auto Standby with No Signal

    Set it to Off. When it puts the TV into deep standby, you have to pair again. Some models don't have this setting.

    If your TV has an Auto Standby with No Signal setting, set it to Off, so you don't have to pair again. We haven't confirmed where it is on sets from other years.

  6. Let your phone turn the TV on (2021–2023 sets)

Troubleshooting

The app asks me to pair again
  1. The TV forgot the pairing, usually after a power cut or Auto Standby with No Signal.
  2. Pair again: type the new 4-digit code shown on the TV.
  3. To make it happen less often, set Auto Standby with No Signal to Off.
The app can't find my TV
  1. Check that your iPhone and the TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Add the TV by its IP address. It's listed under Network Information in the TV's network settings.

How to pair your iPhone with a VIDAA TV

  1. Join the same Wi-FiConnect your iPhone to the same home Wi-Fi as the TV, or the same router if the TV uses a cable. Turn the TV on.
  2. Pick your TVOpen Simple TV Remote and tap your TV in the list.
  3. Type the 4-digit codeThe TV shows a 4-digit code. Type it into the app straight away. If the code disappears before you finish, try again and the TV shows a new one.

What is VIDAA TV?

Open Simple TV Remote, tap your TV, then type the 4-digit code the TV shows. Your iPhone and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi. The code doesn't stay on screen for long, so type it straight away; if it disappears, try again and the TV shows a new one.

Why does my VIDAA TV ask me to pair again?

The TV forgets paired phones after a deep standby. That happens after a power cut, after it was unplugged, or when it switches itself off because there was no signal (Auto Standby). Just type the new 4-digit code the TV shows, and you're back in control. To make it happen less often, set Auto Standby with No Signal to Off; on 2025 sets it's at Settings > System > Timer Settings.

Can my iPhone turn on a VIDAA TV?

Yes, from standby, once the TV's wake setting is on. Turn on Wake on Wireless Network if the TV uses Wi-Fi, or Wake on LAN if it uses a cable: Settings > Network on most sets, or Settings > Connection > Network on 2025 sets. It can't turn on a TV that's unplugged; press the power button on the TV then.

How do I turn on a VIDAA TV without the remote?

Press the power button on the TV. Hisense says its TVs have a power button you can use when the remote is missing, though newer models have fewer buttons. Once the TV is on, your iPhone can do the rest.

What can I control on a VIDAA TV with my iPhone?

The arrows and OK, Home and Back, volume and mute, and turning the TV off. We tested those on a real UK Hisense VIDAA TV. The keyboard, switching inputs and opening apps are in the app too, and the free check shows what works on your TV before you pay.

How do I know if my TV runs VIDAA?

Press Home, open Settings, then Support > About; a VIDAA TV shows its VIDAA version there. On UK Hisense TVs, a model code ending in TUK, like 55U7NQTUK, means VIDAA. On UK Toshiba TVs, a V after the screen size, like 55UV3F63DB, means VIDAA.

Is VIDAA TV free?

Yes. VIDAA is the system built into the TV, so there's nothing extra to pay for it. Streaming services such as Netflix still need their own subscriptions.

My iPhone can't find my VIDAA TV. What should I do?

Check that your iPhone and the TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network, and that the TV is on. VIDAA asks you to accept its terms at Settings > Support > Disclaimer and Privacy before a phone app can connect. If the TV still doesn't appear, add it in the app by its IP address, listed under Network Information in the TV's network settings.

Where do I find my VIDAA version?

Press Home, go to Settings, then Support > About. VIDAA says the OS version is the two digits after V0000.0, for example 9.0.
