What works
Hisense's US TVs from 2022 on, including the U6, U7, U8, U9, UX, A6 and A7 series, mostly run Google TV, which Simple TV Remote is built for.
- Navigation and OK
- Volume and mute
- KeyboardSome apps, like YouTube, use their own keyboard and ignore typed text.
- Open apps
- Turn off
- Turn on from standbyTurn on Settings > System > Advanced System > Wake on Cast (called Screenless Mode on models with hands-free voice). Wake works from standby only, not after the TV is unplugged.
On your TV
Turn these on once with your TV remote. Menu names can differ slightly by year and region.
Connect the TV to your home Wi-Fi or Ethernet
Let phones and speakers wake the TV
Set it to On. On models with hands-free voice (far-field mics) the setting is Screenless Mode. The manual notes it may not be on every model.
Choose what happens at power-on
Power On Mode can be set to Remember, Standby or On. Leave it on Remember or Standby so the TV stays in network standby.
In the app
Pairing takes about a minute, once per TV.
Connect your iPhone and TV to the same Wi-Fi network
Guest networks and Wi-Fi with device isolation block local control.
Open Simple TV Remote and pick your TV
Type the code shown on your TV
The TV shows a short code the first time you connect. After that, the app reconnects without a code.
Let the TV turn on from standby
Look for your TV maker's network standby setting (for example Sony "Remote start" or TCL "Screenless service"). Your TV's page lists the exact menu path.
Can’t find your TV? Add it by IP address
If your TV doesn’t show up in the app, tap “Can’t find it?” and type the TV’s IP address. Here’s where the TV shows it.
Find the TV's IP address (older Android TV menus)
Google documents this menu for Android TV; newer Google TV menus may differ.
Models
121 model codes from 2022–2026 for United States. Codes are exact for their region. ·· stands for the screen size, so ··U6H covers 50U6H, 55U6H and so on.
United Kingdom: UK Hisense TVs with the same series names (U6, U7, U8, A6, A7, E7) run VIDAA, not Google TV.
United States: Since 2025 some series ship with more than one platform; check the last letter of the code (G = Google TV).

Troubleshooting
Most problems come from the network or one TV setting. Start at the top.
The TV doesn't show up in the app
- Make sure the iPhone and the TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
- On the TV, open Settings > Network & Internet and check it is connected.
- Restart the TV by holding the power button on the remote, then try again.
The app can't turn the TV on
- Check Settings > System > Advanced System > Wake on Cast (or Screenless Mode) is On.
- Check Settings > System > Power & Energy > Power > Power On Mode is not set in a way that cuts network standby.
- Wake doesn't work if the TV was unplugged or switched off at the wall.
The TV doesn't appear in the app
- Make sure your iPhone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
- Allow Local Network access for Simple TV Remote in iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
- Restart the TV: unplug it, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
- Check that the TV is a Google TV or Android TV. TVs with only Chromecast built-in can't be controlled this way.
No pairing code shows on the TV
- Turn the TV on and leave it on the home screen; the code only shows while the screen is on.
- On the TV, update Android TV Remote Service: open Google Play on the TV, search for "Android TV Remote Service" and choose Update.
- If it still fails, go to Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Android TV Remote Service and choose Force stop, then Clear storage. Then pair again.
The app asks to pair again every time
- Clear the storage of Android TV Remote Service on the TV (Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Android TV Remote Service > Clear storage), restart the TV and pair once more.
- Give the TV a fixed address in your router so it doesn't change after a power cut.
The TV won't turn on from the app
- Wake works only from standby. A TV that was unplugged or switched off at the wall can't be woken over Wi-Fi.
- Turn on your TV maker's network standby setting. See your TV's page for the exact menu path.
- On Android TV 14 sets, a low-power energy mode may turn the network off in standby. Choose a mode that keeps the network on.
- If the TV uses Ethernet, try Wi-Fi, or the other way round. Some TVs only wake on one of them.
Volume doesn't change on a Chromecast, Google TV Streamer or SHIELD
- Turn on HDMI-CEC on your TV and on any soundbar or receiver in between.
- On the streamer, set Settings > Remotes & Accessories > Set up remote buttons > Volume control to "Auto (CEC)".
How to use your iPhone as a Hisense Google TV remote
- Join the same Wi-FiConnect your iPhone and the TV to the same home Wi-Fi network. Guest networks often keep devices apart.
- Pick your TV in the appOpen Simple TV Remote and choose your TV. The free check runs on your own TV before you pay.
- Type the code from the TVThe TV shows a short code the first time. Type it on your iPhone once, and the app remembers the TV.
- Let your iPhone turn the TV onOptional: open Settings > System > Advanced System > Wake on Cast (Screenless Mode on some models) and turn it on. It works from standby only.
Questions
Is there a Hisense Google TV remote app for iPhone?
Yes. Simple TV Remote is a Hisense Google TV remote app for iPhone that works with Hisense Google TV sets running Google TV. It pairs over your home Wi-Fi and sends real commands in a free check, so you know it works on your exact TV before you pay $5.99, once.
How do I turn on a Hisense TV without the remote?
Press the power button on the TV. Hisense says you can also use the TV's buttons for channels and volume, but newer models have fewer buttons, so check what yours has. If the TV is in standby and Wake on Cast is on, your iPhone can turn it on too.
How do I pair a Hisense Google TV remote?
Turn the TV fully on, since the remote can't pair while the TV is in standby. Stay within 10 feet, press Home, open Settings > Remotes & Accessories, then hold the pairing button shown in your Quick Setup Guide for at least 3 seconds. Select the remote's name and press OK.
How do I reset a Hisense remote?
Take the batteries out and press any button for 1 to 2 seconds, then put the batteries back. Hisense suggests this when the batteries are fine but the remote misbehaves. If it still won't respond, pair it again.
How do I use a Hisense TV without the remote or Wi-Fi?
Use the buttons on the TV for power, volume and channels. Phone apps need the TV to be on your Wi-Fi first, so for network setup you'll need a remote. Once it's online, your iPhone can be the remote.
How do I restart a Hisense Google TV?
Unplug the TV for 10 seconds and plug it back in. That clears most remote and pairing problems on any Google TV. Then pair the remote again if it still won't respond.
Does Hisense have a remote app?
Yes. Hisense points to its Hisense Remote NOW app, and Google's Google TV app also works on Hisense Google TV and Android TV sets. Simple TV Remote is another option, with no account and a one-time $5.99 price after a free check.
Why won't my Hisense turn on from my phone?
Check that Wake on Cast is on: Settings > System > Advanced System > Wake on Cast, called Screenless Mode on models with hands-free voice. Also leave Power On Mode on Remember or Standby. Wake never works after the TV was unplugged.
Is my Hisense a Google TV?
In the US, most Hisense ULED, A6, A7, QD5, QD7, CanvasTV and UX models from 2022 on are Google TV. From 2025, a G at the end of the code (65U8QG, 55U7SG) means Google TV. An F means Fire TV, an R means Roku TV and a V means VIDAA.
My UK Hisense is a U7N or U8K. Is it the same TV?
UK codes end in TUK (for example 55U7NQTUK), and those models run VIDAA, not Google TV.
Where do I find the model number?
It's on the label on the back of the TV. On screen, Settings > System > Advanced System > Help > System message shows the serial number and software version.
Will typing work in every app?
Typing works in most search boxes. Some apps, like YouTube, use their own keyboard and may ignore typed text.
About these TVs
Hisense moved its US ULED TVs to Google TV in 2022, starting with the U6H, U7H and U8H. The A6 and A7 budget series, the UX flagship, CanvasTV and the L9H Laser TV followed.
From 2025 the US model code ends with a platform letter: G for Google TV, F for Fire TV, R for Roku TV and V for VIDAA. The same series can come in more than one: the 2026 U7 ships as U7SG (Google TV) and U7SF (Fire TV).
Google TV models include the Android TV Remote Service, which Simple TV Remote uses to pair with a code on screen and send controls over Wi-Fi.
