Questions
How do I turn on my Roku TV without the remote?
Press the power button on the TV. Roku says the buttons can be hard to find: check the bottom center of the TV behind the status light, or the back panel near the lower right or left side. Some Roku TVs have just one button, which is the power button.
How do I find a lost Roku remote?
Use Roku's lost remote finder, which works on Roku voice remotes with a built-in speaker. In the Roku app, select Devices, tap your device, tap the three dots and choose Ping Remote. On a Roku TV you can also open the Inputs menu with the button on the TV and choose Find Remote.
Why won't my Roku remote make a sound?
Only voice remotes with a speaker can ring; look for small speaker holes on the back. Roku says it also won't play if the batteries are dead or too low, or if the remote is out of range of your Wi-Fi.
I lost my Roku remote. Can I use my phone?
Yes, if the Roku is already connected to the internet. Roku's free Roku app turns your phone into a remote for Roku TVs and players. On a Roku TV, Simple TV Remote also works, with navigation, volume, typing and opening apps.
Can I connect my Roku TV to Wi-Fi from my iPhone without the remote?
No. Roku says the app can't find a Roku that isn't connected to the internet, for example after a reset or during first-time setup. You'll need a replacement Roku remote or a compatible remote to get it online.
How do I turn the volume up on a Roku TV without the remote?
Use a phone app. Simple TV Remote has volume buttons for Roku TVs, and your iPhone must be on the same Wi-Fi as the TV. Without Wi-Fi, you'll need a replacement remote.
How do I pair a new Roku voice remote?
Unplug the TV, wait at least 5 seconds, plug it back in, and wait for the Home screen. Then hold the pairing button (on the back or under the battery cover) for 5 seconds until the light flashes. If there's no pairing button, hold Back and Home for 5 seconds.
