## How to use your iPhone as a Vizio TV remote

1.  **Join the same Wi-Fi**Connect your iPhone to the same home Wi-Fi network as your Vizio TV, not a guest network.
2.  **Pair with the PIN**Open Simple TV Remote, choose your Vizio TV, and type the PIN the TV shows.
3.  **Let your iPhone turn the TV on (optional)**Set Menu > All Settings > System > Power Mode to Quick Start so the TV stays reachable in standby.

How do I turn on my Vizio TV without the remote?

Press the Power/Input button on the TV. On recent models such as the 2022 V-Series it sits under the remote sensor on the front of the TV. Press it once to turn the TV on; when the TV is on, press and hold it for 3 seconds to turn it off, but don't hold it for 12 seconds, because that resets the TV.

How do I change the input or volume on a Vizio TV without the remote?

On recent Vizio TVs, press the Power/Input button under the sensor while the TV is on to move to the next input. For volume, use a phone remote: the VIZIO Mobile app or Simple TV Remote both handle volume and inputs once the TV is on your Wi-Fi.

Can my iPhone turn on my Vizio TV?

Yes, from standby, if Power Mode is set to Quick Start. Open Menu > All Settings > System > Power Mode and choose Quick Start (Menu > System > Power Mode > Quick Start Mode on older menus). In Energy Save or Eco Mode the TV turns its network off in standby, and no app can turn on a TV that's unplugged.

How do I connect my Vizio TV to Wi-Fi without the remote?

You can't do it from a phone app. Vizio says the TV must already be connected to the internet for its app to work, and if it isn't and you have no working remote, you may need a replacement remote. Most Vizio remotes handle power, volume, input and navigation on any Vizio TV.

How do I pair a Vizio remote to my TV?

Most Vizio remotes use infrared and don't need pairing; just put in fresh batteries and point them at the TV. A Vizio voice remote does pair: hold Input and Mute for about 10 seconds until a light near the top flashes, then on the TV go to Menu > System > Voice Remote > Pair New Remote.

Why is my Vizio remote not working?

Take the batteries out, press each button briefly to free any that are stuck, and put in fresh batteries. Then unplug the TV for at least 5 seconds and make sure nothing blocks the sensor. Our Vizio guide at /tv-remote-not-working/vizio/ covers the rest, including voice remotes.

How do I restart a Vizio TV?

Unplug the TV from the outlet, wait at least 5 seconds, and plug it back in. Vizio suggests this power cycle when the remote or the TV stops responding. It doesn't erase your settings.

Vizio renamed SmartCast to VIZIO Home and then VIZIO OS. The TVs are the same platform.

## About Vizio smart TVs

Vizio is a US TV brand based in Irvine, California. Since 2016 its smart TVs have run Vizio's own platform, SmartCast. Vizio now calls it VIZIO OS.

Walmart completed its purchase of Vizio on December 3, 2024. Vizio now runs as a Walmart subsidiary, and Walmart's onn TVs also ship with VIZIO OS.

Vizio models from before 2016, and the 2016–2017 D-Series, used VIZIO Internet Apps (VIA) instead of SmartCast. Those older TVs are not covered here.
