## What works

LG UHD (4K LED) TVs run webOS.

- Switch inputs
- Open apps
- Turn off
- Turn on from standbyTurn on "Turn on via Wi-Fi" (TV On With Mobile, or Mobile TV On on 2016–2019 sets). Wakes the TV from standby only, not when it is unplugged.

### How to read a LG model number

Hover over or tap each part of the code.

US OLED, 2018–2026

OLED65C3PUA

- `OLED`OLED TV
- `65`Screen size in inches
- `C`Series (B, C, G, M, Z and others)
- `3`Model year: 8 = 2018, 9 = 2019, X = 2020, 1 = 2021 … 5 = 2025, 6 = 2026
- `PUA`US version. Retail variants of the same TV use other endings, such as AUA, PUB or SUB.

2016–2017 US codes end in a single P (OLED65C7P). The 2016 and 2026 C series both use 6; the 2026 code ends in PUA or AUA.

UK OLED, 2020–2026

OLED65C34LA

- `OLED`OLED TV
- `65`Screen size in inches
- `C`Series
- `3`Model year (3 = 2023)
- `4LA`UK/European version. The digit changes between variants of the same series (C44LA, C45LA, C46LA in 2024). Some G-series codes end in LW and others in LS (OLED65G45LW, OLED65G46LS).

2016–2017 UK codes end in V (OLED65C7V) and 2018–2019 codes end in PLA (OLED65C8PLA).

US LCD (UHD, NanoCell, QNED)

65UR8000AUA

- `65`Screen size in inches
- `U`UHD line (NANO = NanoCell, QNED = QNED, NU = NANO 4K UHD)
- `R`Model year: H = 2016, J = 2017, K = 2018, M = 2019, N = 2020, P = 2021, Q = 2022, R = 2023, T = 2024, A = 2025, B = 2026
- `8000`Series
- `AUA`US version

On NanoCell and QNED codes the year letter comes after the series: 65NANO75UQA (Q = 2022), 55QNED80URA (R = 2023). From 2024 it comes first: 65QNED80TUC (T = 2024), 65QNED85AUA (A = 2025).

UK LCD (UHD, NanoCell, QNED)

65UR78006LK

- `R`Model year (R = 2023), same letters as the US
- `7800`Series
- `6LK`UK/European version

UK NanoCell and QNED codes put a digit before the year letter: 65NANO766QA (Q = 2022), 65QNED816RE (R = 2023), 65QNED82T6B (T = 2024), 65QNED86B6B (B = 2026).

## Troubleshooting

Most problems come from the network or one TV setting. Start at the top.

The app can't find the TV

1. Put your iPhone and the TV on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
2. On 2014–2018 sets, turn on Settings > All Settings > Network > LG Connect Apps.
3. Turn the TV off and on with its remote and try again.

The app can't turn the TV on

1. Turn on Turn on via Wi-Fi using the path for your TV's year above.
2. Leave the TV plugged in. It can only wake from standby.
3. If your TV got a webOS Re:New upgrade, the setting is in the newer menu: General > External Devices > TV On With Mobile.

The app can't find my LG TV

1. Put your iPhone and the TV on the same Wi-Fi network. Guest networks often block devices from seeing each other.
2. On 2014–2018 sets, turn on Settings > All Settings > Network > LG Connect Apps.
3. Turn the TV off and on with the TV remote, then try again.

I missed or declined the pairing prompt

1. Connect again from the app. The TV shows the prompt again.
2. On 2014–2018 sets, Revoke Pairing under LG Connect Apps removes all paired apps so you can start over.

The app can't turn the TV on

1. Turn on Turn on via Wi-Fi. The menu depends on your TV's webOS version: see the setup steps above.
2. Keep the TV plugged in. A TV that's switched off at the wall can't be woken over Wi-Fi.
3. If the TV has been off for a long time, wake it once with the TV remote and try again.

My TV turns itself on

1. Turn on via Wi-Fi lets apps on your network switch the TV on. Switch it off if you don't need to wake the TV from your phone.
2. Check for HDMI devices that turn the TV on through SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC).

## Questions

Is there a LG UHD TV remote app for iPhone?

Yes. Simple TV Remote is a LG UHD TV remote app for iPhone that works with LG UHD TVs running LG webOS. It pairs over your home Wi-Fi and sends real commands in a free check, so you know it works on your exact TV before you pay $5.99, once.

Can my iPhone turn on a LG UHD TV?

Yes, from standby. Turn on "Turn on via Wi-Fi" (TV On With Mobile, or Mobile TV On on 2016–2019 sets). Wakes the TV from standby only, not when it is unplugged. No app can turn on a TV that is unplugged.

How do I tell what year my LG UHD TV is?

Look at the two letters after the size. 65UR8000AUA is 2023 (UR), 65UT8000AUA is 2024 (UT) and 50UA7000PUB is 2025 (UA). In the UK, 65UR78006LK is 2023.

Will my UHD TV get newer webOS versions?

2023 and later UHD TVs are in webOS Re:New. LG has not included UHD TVs from 2022 or earlier.

Which LG UHD models work with Simple TV Remote?

LG UHD TVs from 2016–2025 work, including the UH5500, UH6030, UH6090, UH6150, UH6550, UH7650, UH7700, UH8500 series sold in United States and United Kingdom. Search for your exact model code in the table on this page.

How do I connect my iPhone to a LG UHD TV?

Put your iPhone and TV on the same Wi-Fi, open Simple TV Remote and pick your TV. Accept the prompt on the TV with your TV remote once, and the app remembers it.

Where is the model number on a LG TV?

Open Settings > All Settings > General > About This TV. The model number is under TV Information on this screen. It’s also on the label on the back of the TV.

Why can’t the app find my LG TV?

Make sure the TV is on and on the same Wi-Fi as your iPhone, not a guest network, and turn off any VPN on your iPhone. If it still doesn’t show up, restart the TV and your router, then check Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network on your iPhone.

Do I need an IR blaster or extra hardware?

No. Simple TV Remote talks to your TV over your home Wi-Fi. iPhones have no infrared, so TVs without a network connection can’t be controlled.

## About these TVs

LG UHD TVs are LG's 4K LED LCD TVs. They run webOS like LG's other smart TVs.

The letter after the U shows the year: UH is 2016, UJ 2017, UK 2018, UM 2019, UN 2020, UP 2021, UQ 2022, UR 2023, UT 2024 and UA 2025. In 2026, LG's 4K LCD line moved to NANO 4K UHD (NU) codes, which we list under NanoCell.

2023 and later UHD TVs are in webOS Re:New, which LG says covers "UHD and above" models from 2023.
