- `PUA`US version. Retail variants of the same TV use other endings, such as AUA, PUB or SUB.

2016–2017 US codes end in a single P (OLED65C7P). The 2016 and 2026 C series both use 6; the 2026 code ends in PUA or AUA.

## Troubleshooting

Most problems come from the network or one TV setting. Start at the top.

The app can't find the TV

1. Put your iPhone and the TV on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
2. On 2014–2018 sets, turn on Settings > All Settings > Network > LG Connect Apps.
3. Turn the TV off and on with its remote and try again.

The app can't turn the TV on

1. Turn on Turn on via Wi-Fi using the path for your TV's year above.
2. Leave the TV plugged in. It can only wake from standby.
3. If your TV got a webOS Re:New upgrade, the setting is in the newer menu: General > External Devices > TV On With Mobile.

The app can't find my LG TV

1. Put your iPhone and the TV on the same Wi-Fi network. Guest networks often block devices from seeing each other.
2. On 2014–2018 sets, turn on Settings > All Settings > Network > LG Connect Apps.
3. Turn the TV off and on with the TV remote, then try again.

I missed or declined the pairing prompt

1. Connect again from the app. The TV shows the prompt again.
2. On 2014–2018 sets, Revoke Pairing under LG Connect Apps removes all paired apps so you can start over.

The app can't turn the TV on

1. Turn on Turn on via Wi-Fi. The menu depends on your TV's webOS version: see the setup steps above.
2. Keep the TV plugged in. A TV that's switched off at the wall can't be woken over Wi-Fi.
3. If the TV has been off for a long time, wake it once with the TV remote and try again.

My TV turns itself on

1. Turn on via Wi-Fi lets apps on your network switch the TV on. Switch it off if you don't need to wake the TV from your phone.
2. Check for HDMI devices that turn the TV on through SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC).

## How to use your iPhone as an LG OLED remote

1. **Join the same Wi-Fi**Connect your iPhone and the TV to the same home Wi-Fi network.
2. **Pick your TV in the app**Open Simple TV Remote and choose your TV. The free check runs on your own TV before you pay.
3. **Accept the prompt on the TV**The TV asks once whether to allow the app. Choose Accept with the TV remote.
4. **Let your iPhone turn the TV on**Optional: turn on Turn on via Wi-Fi under TV On With Mobile (Settings > All Settings > General > External Devices on 2023–2025 sets). It wakes the TV from standby only.

## Questions

Is there a LG OLED TV remote app for iPhone?

Yes. Simple TV Remote is a LG OLED TV remote app for iPhone that works with LG OLED TV sets running LG webOS. It pairs over your home Wi-Fi and sends real commands in a free check, so you know it works on your exact TV before you pay $5.99, once.

How do I pair the Magic Remote with my LG OLED?

Turn on the TV, point the Magic Remote at it and press the wheel (OK). If it doesn't connect, hold Home and Back together for 5 seconds until the remote's power button flashes, then point it at the TV and press the wheel again. A message on the TV confirms it's registered.

Why does my LG OLED Magic Remote light up but do nothing?

It has probably lost its pairing with the TV. Hold Home and Back for 5 seconds to clear it, then point the remote at the TV and press the wheel. If the power button on the remote doesn't light at all, change the batteries first.

Where is the power button on an LG OLED?

LG says it's usually under the LG logo on the front edge, or on the back, depending on the model. Press it once to turn the TV on. On a joystick-style button, press and hold to turn off and push left or right for volume.

Which LG OLED TVs work with Simple TV Remote?

LG OLEDs from 2016 onward work, because they all run webOS. The digit after the series letter is the year: C9 is 2019, CX 2020, C1 2021 and so on up to C5 for 2025. B, C, G and the other series all set up the same way.

How do I let my iPhone turn on my LG OLED?

Turn on Turn on via Wi-Fi. On 2023–2025 sets it's Settings > All Settings > General > External Devices > TV On With Mobile. On 2021–2022 sets it's Settings > All Settings > General > Devices > External Devices > TV On With Mobile. On 2020 sets look under Connection > Mobile Connection Management, and on 2016–2019 sets look for Mobile TV On. It works from standby only, so leave the TV plugged in.

Why can't the app connect to my LG OLED?

Put your iPhone and the TV on the same Wi-Fi, not a guest network, then turn the TV off and on with its remote and try again. On 2016–2018 sets, also turn on Settings > All Settings > Network > LG Connect Apps.

Will another LG remote work with my TV?

A basic LG infrared remote often works across LG TVs. Magic Remotes may not work across models, so check your model before you buy a replacement. Your iPhone can stand in while you wait.

Can I use the LG ThinQ app instead?

Yes. LG's own ThinQ app has Magic Remote-style controls once you sign in with an LG account, tap Add a Device, choose TV and pick your set. Simple TV Remote is the no-account option: same Wi-Fi, accept the prompt on the TV once, and you're done.

How do I tell what year my LG OLED is?

Look at the digit after the series letter. C1 is 2021, C2 is 2022, C3 is 2023, C4 is 2024, C5 is 2025. CX is 2020 and C9 is 2019. 2016 (C6) and 2026 (C6) share a digit, but the US 2026 code ends in PUA or AUA and the 2016 one ends in P.

Can my iPhone turn on my LG OLED?

Once LG support ships, it should be able to if Turn on via Wi-Fi is on and the TV is in standby. It can't wake a TV that's unplugged.

My 2022 OLED's menus don't match the guide. Why?

2022 OLED TVs can upgrade to webOS 23 and later through webOS Re:New. After the upgrade, use the 2023–2025 menu paths.

## About these TVs

LG OLED TVs run webOS. LG names each OLED series with a letter and a year digit: C3 is the 2023 C series and C4 is the 2024 one. Before 2021, X stood for 2020 (CX, GX), and 2016–2019 used 6 to 9.

B and C OLEDs come out every year. Other series, such as G, M, W, Z, E, A and R, appear in some years. The 88-inch Z models are 8K.

US and UK codes differ after the series: OLED65C3PUA is the US code and OLED65C34LA the UK code for the same 65-inch 2023 C3.

2022 OLED TVs are in LG's webOS Re:New program and can upgrade to newer webOS versions. A TV that has been upgraded uses the newer menus.
