Help

# Local Network permission on iPhone: how to allow it

Turn on Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network › Simple TV Remote, then open the app again.

## Why the app asks

Apple requires apps to ask before they look for devices on your home network. Simple TV Remote needs it to find your TV and send it commands. It does not use it for anything else.

## Turn it back on

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Tap Privacy & Security, then Local Network.
3. Turn on Simple TV Remote.
4. Return to Simple TV Remote and try again.

## Questions

What is Local Network on iPhone?

It’s a privacy permission. An app needs it to find and talk to devices on your home Wi-Fi, like a TV, a speaker or a printer. iOS asks once, the first time an app tries.

Where is Local Network access on iPhone?

Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network. You’ll see each app that asked, with a switch. You can also find it under Settings > \[the app’s name\] > Local Network.

How do I turn on Local Network access for Simple TV Remote?

Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network and turn on Simple TV Remote. Then open the app again; it will find your TV.

Should I allow Local Network access?

Allow it for apps that need to reach devices at home, like a TV remote app. Simple TV Remote uses it only to find your TV and send it commands, and nothing leaves your home network.

Why didn’t the app ask for Local Network access?

iOS asks only once. If you tapped Don’t Allow, the app can’t ask again, so turn it on in Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.

My TV still isn’t found with Local Network on. What now?

Check that your iPhone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi, not a guest network, and pause any VPN. Then restart the TV and try again.
